Sea-Eye Gründer Michael Buschheuer an der Realschule Obertraubling

Im Rahmen der Erasmus+-Projektwoche fand am 25.09.2019 in der Aula der Realschule Obertraubling ein Vortrag von Michael Buschheuer von Sea-Eye statt. Alle Schüler der 8. bis 10. Klassen, zahlreiche Lehrkräfte und unsere Erasmus+-Gäste aus Portugal, Griechenland, Italien, Spanien und Ungarn lauschten konzentriert den informativen Worten in Englisch.

Herr Buschheuer berichtete, dass Sea-Eye Flüchtende aus seeuntüchtigen Booten im Mittelmeer rettet. Sie suchen nach schutzlosen Menschen in Seenot und kämpfen gegen den täglichen Verlust von Menschenleben auf See.

Michael Buschheuer gründete 2015 in Regensburg den Verein Sea Eye e. V. Der Verein kaufte den 26 Meter langen, ehemaligen Fischkutter und baute das hochseetaugliche Schiff für die Seenotrettung um. Das Schiff fuhr unter dem Namen Sea-Eye.

Mit dem neuen Schiff ALAN KURDI füllen sie weiterhin eine Lücke in der Seenotrettung auf dem Mittelmeer, um möglichst viele Menschen vor dem Ertrinken zu bewahren. Der Schiffsname ist dem syrischen Jungen Alan Kurdi gewidmet, der 2015 auf seiner Flucht im Mittelmeer ertrank. Mit den besten Wünschen seines Vaters trägt das Schiff seinen Namen, um an die Aufgabe von Sea-Eye zu erinnern: Menschenleben retten.

Michael Buschheuer sprach über die Lage und Entwicklung im Mittelmeer sowie anspruchsvolle Einsätze in einem politischen Spannungsfeld und welche Verantwortung wir als Binnenland gegenüber der Situation im Mittelmeer tragen. 

Bei der Suche nach Flüchtlingsbooten im Mittelmeer setzt Sea-Eye künftig auf Satellitenüberwachung. Die Helfer wollen mit Hilfe von Fotos aus dem Weltraum ihre Rettungseinsätze effektiver machen und gleichzeitig möglichen Menschenrechtsverletzungen auf die Spur kommen - "Space-Eye" heißt der neue Verein. "Wir sehen was, was du nicht siehst."

Am Ende appelliert er eindrucksvoll an die Menschenwürde und Humanität.

Sea-Eye founder Michael Buschheuer at Realschule Obertraubling

As part of the Erasmus+ project week, a lecture by Michael Buschheuer from Sea-Eye took place in the auditorium of the Realschule Obertraubling on 25.09.2019. All 8th to 10th grade students, numerous teachers and our Erasmus+ guests from Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain and Hungary listened focused to the informative words in English.

Mr Buschheuer reported that Sea-Eye is rescuing refugees from unseaworthy boats in the Mediterranean. They search for vulnerable people in distress and fight against the daily loss of life at sea.

Michael Buschheuer founded the association Sea Eye e.V in Regensburg in 2015. The club bought the 26 meter long, former fishing boat and rebuilt the ocean-going ship for the rescue of the sea. The ship sailed under the name Sea-Eye.

With the new ship ALAN KURDI they continue to fill a gap in the rescue of the Mediterranean Sea to save as many people as possible from drowning. The ship's name is dedicated to the Syrian boy Alan Kurdi, who drowned in 2015 while fleeing the Mediterranean Sea. With the best wishes of his father, the ship bears his name to commemorate the task of Sea-Eye: saving human lives.

Michael Buschheuer spoke about the situation and development in the Mediterranean as well as demanding assignments in a political tension and what responsibility we as a landlocked country have to the situation in the Mediterranean.

In the search for refugee boats in the Mediterranean Sea-Eye will in future rely on satellite surveillance. The helpers want to make their rescue missions more effective with the help of photos from outer space and at the same time detect potential human rights violations - "Space-Eye" is the name of the new organisation. "We see something you do not see."

In the end, he impressively appeals to human dignity and humanity.
